An extremely rare shoulder belt plate believed to be to the 3rd Bombay Native Infantry. A shako to this Regiment was sold by Bonhams 22 November 2023 described as an 1829 Pattern with the plate showing the Battle Honours of both Buxar & Guzeratt both being present on this plate. In the Noonan’s sale 7 Dec 2022 lot 718 they show an 1833 dated plate which would suggest it postdates this plate (hammer price 2000 pounds). A few minor spots to the gilt but retaining almost all gilt finish.

A rare example in die-stamped brass, of original curved shape (approx. 195mm x 90mm). The plate displays the full Arms of Great Britain post 1837. In use on the 1834 and 1843 pattern helmets by the following regiments, 2nd, 4th, 5th, and 6th Dragoon Guards and the 1st Dragoons, small perforations through wear in a few places and one ray-tip fastening element missing, otherwise good condition for age.
