He was promoted \u003cstrong\u003eGefreiter on 1 September 1869\u003c\/strong\u003e and \u003cstrong\u003eUnteroffizier on 21 July 1870\u003c\/strong\u003e, immediately before active operations against France.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp style=\"text-align: justify;\"\u003e\u003cspan style=\"font-family: 'Aptos',sans-serif; mso-ascii-theme-font: minor-latin; mso-hansi-theme-font: minor-latin;\"\u003eServing with the \u003cstrong\u003e5th Company, II Battalion, IR 92\u003c\/strong\u003e, Laßmann's Militär-Pass records an extensive 1870–71 campaign including \u003cstrong\u003eGravelotte (18 August 1870), the investment of Metz, Noisseville, Ladonchamps and Charly\u003c\/strong\u003e, followed by operations in the \u003cstrong\u003eLoire campaign\u003c\/strong\u003e, including \u003cstrong\u003eVendôme and the Le Mans sector\u003c\/strong\u003e. His II Battalion was subsequently awarded the battle distinction \u003cstrong\u003e“Vendôme.”\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan style=\"font-family: 'Aptos',sans-serif; mso-ascii-theme-font: minor-latin; mso-hansi-theme-font: minor-latin;\"\u003eLaßmann was decorated with the \u003cstrong\u003eIron Cross 2nd Class (Eisernes Kreuz II.
