He was taken on strength with the \u003cb\u003e4th Divisional Ammunition Column\u003c\/b\u003e, mustered as a Gunner, and later served with the \u003cb\u003e24th Field Artillery Brigade\u003c\/b\u003e in France. On \u003cb\u003e6 December 1916\u003c\/b\u003e he was recorded as \u003cb\u003ewounded in action\u003c\/b\u003e, but remained on duty, an unusual and desirable service detail. He later served with the \u003cb\u003e12th Army Field Artillery Brigade\u003c\/b\u003e, including the 112th Battery, and continued in France and Belgium through 1917–18.
