Single: Afghanistan 1878-80, 1 clasp, Kandahar (B/375. Pte. W. Davis. 66th Foot.) Correctly chisel engraved regimental number leaving no doubt as to the recipient.
B/375 Private William Davis was killed in action at Maiwand on 27 July 1880 (WO 100/52 refers).
Note: He is not entitled to the clasp for Kandahar which appears to have been fitted in error, the roll showing the entry above for John Davis being present at Kandahar. Private William Davis is confirmed on the 66th Foot memorial at Reading as being killed in action at Maiwand.
