$1,200

A Very Rare Late Victorian GREY BAND TUNIC TO A LONDON REGIMENT.

This rare grey tunic has a Hobson London label at the inside neck and a fragmented paper label at the inside bottom of the tunic. It partly shows City of London. Both sleeves have a white stripe both inside and out with multiple crowns. The back of the jacket is equally decorative. The right arm has a black bullion drum, and the buttons are in keeping with the Royal Coat of Arms for drummers. Despite countless band tunics on Google images there are NO GREY TUNICS shown.

An attractive French 1870 pattern Cuirassier troopers helmet
$1,850

An attractive French 1870 pattern Cuirassier troopers helmet

Helmet of polished steel having a peak and lobster tail back that are decorated with brass trim, a high ornamental raised brass comb that is faced with a Medusa's head, with flowing horsehair mane attached. A decorative plume socket, with red brush, is fitted and mounted above the Medusa’s head. To the front of the helmet body is fitted a brass plate that features a flaming grenade with laurel branches either side. A plume socket of brass is fitted to the left side of the helmet body complete with red plume and a leather chinstrap, faced with brass chin scales. Inside, the helmet has seven tongues of leather lining showing some wear. A small, stamped makers mark on the rear of the helmet is stamped A. GOD***CT. With the inside of the peaks being painted mustard brown there is a strong chance this helmet was used in the very early part of WW1.
