Single: King’s South Africa 1901-02, 2 clasps, South Africa 1901, South Africa 1902. 3780 Pte. W. Howarth. L.N. Lanc. Regt William Howarth, a labourer from Halton, Lancashire, attested into the Loyal North Lancashire Regiment on 20 June 1892 and served in South Africa during the Boer War and was later discharged on 19 June 1904. He is additionally entitled to a Queen’s South Africa Medal with four clasps: Belmont, Modder River, Cape Colony and Transvaal.

George Arbuckle was born in the Parish of Barony, Lanarkshire, and enlisted into the 42nd Foot at Glasgow on 9 August 1848. He served in the Crimea (Medal with 3 clasps, Alma, Balaklava and Sebastopol) and in the Indian Mutiny (Medal with clasp Lucknow). He was promoted to Corporal in December 1857, and to Lance-Sergeant in May 1859, being discharged at Stirling on 19 January 1860.

The Crimea Medal awarded to Sergeant John Jones, 11th (Prince Albert’s Own) Hussars, who was killed in the Charge of the Light Brigade at Balaklava, 25 October 1854
Crimea 1854-56, 2 clasps, Alma, Balaklava (Sergt. John Jones. 11th Hussars.) officially impressed naming, fitted with Bailey, Coventry silver top riband brooch, retaining pin fitted to reverse of top clasp.
John Jones was born in Uxbridge, Middlesex, the son of John Jones of St. Peter’s, Buckingham, and enlisted in the 11th Hussars on 15 January 1849. Following his arrival in the Crimea, he fought with his regiment at the Battle of the Alma, 20 September 1854 and was killed in the Charge of the Light Brigade at Balaklava on 25 October 1854, one of 25 N.C.O.s and men of the 11th Hussars killed in the charge.

This medal has great provenance having originally been purchased directly from the family in Australia and sold to Warwick Cary who was a serious Light Brigade collector. His collection was sold in Noonan’s in 2020.

All medals correctly named, and the group is presented “as worn”.
This Group has the lot! From MID flying WW2, DSO Flying Korea, His first AFC for Test Pilot and the Bar for Ubon. CBE for Vietnam. Reading his 4 Logbooks covering WW2 to Vietnam would indicate he has flown all aircraft available to Australian’s including Choppers in Vietnam.
Comes with over 60 photos, 4 logbooks, citations & dog tags and cased CB. Average VF

Wiltshire Regiment Officer’s Blue Cloth Helmet 1883-01.
A good example, the skull is complete with gilt mounts, the frontal plate of crowned with laurel and Garter overlays, to the centre gilt cross pate with silvered Cypher on black velvet ground, below title ‘The Wiltshire Regiment’, complete with velvet backed chin chain, inner leather sweatband with crimson silk lining with lapel A&N CSL London.
